Good article. People sometimes treat the “Mud March” as a bit of a joke, Mules in mud up to their ears, but it wasn’t a joke to the poor soldiers having to sleep in the rain or eat uncooked food. The Mud March caused quite a bit of sickness and a few deaths from exposure. It also caused an massive increase in desertions.
