From the gift that keeps on giving …
Yankee professors and Southerners who think like Yankees have taken over most Southern colleges and universities. Southerners who believe in the traditions that Jefferson Davis appreciated are finding themselves unemployable, denied careers in higher education by national forces that systematically discriminate against them. Only Yankees and Scalawags who truckle to the enemies of Southern history and culture get important jobs where they have the opportunity to train college teachers.
Sure. How’s that tin foil hat working for you?
“Traditionsthat Jefferson Davis enjoyed” would that be slavery and treason?
And when one was being ended and punishment for the other was about to be exacted, he dresses up as a women. Not that that’s a bad thing ! 😉
That’s my favorite Jeff Davis story. It’s great for roiling a Lost Causer up.
And from elsewhere:
Click on the High Schools, Colleges and Universities in your area, and make an effort to find out who the History Professors are. Look through their Biography or search to find out what they have authored. Find out what part of the Country they grew up in, and I will assure you that you will quickly discover that many Northern Liberals are migrating South to change the Conservative South to a Liberal South. Southern Liberals are leading the attack against Confederate Southern History, or those Northerner’s who have migrated South. Many of the Southern History teachers are in a Job Curriculum, which are surrounded by Northern “Carpetbagger” migrants, who are now heads of the Departments they teach in, and the “Requirement for Adherence” to their Revisionist Cause is Tantamount to a Successful Career.
The Northern Carpetbagger Liberals come here for a purpose, and it’s the same intent that many go into Journalism or History. They want to Make a Difference, but the Difference is to “Revise” our History of Southern Conservative Constutionalists of our Southern Leaders to more current methodology of Socialist – Marxist government, and an All Powerful Government, which takes the rights of Individuals away. Kevin Levin is an example of one of those Northern “Carpetbaggers”, who migrated South, and made every effort with his “History Classes” to change the Thinking and Re Program the Minds of Southern Youth.
We must find out what’s going on in the Universities, and provide the Knowledge Challenges to those “Revisionists” attempting to “Reframe” our Heritage. They Blame the War on the South, They Call us Traitors, They try to Remove our Monuments and Flags, and They Denigrate the Very Nature of Southern Conservatives or Southern Patriots. The War is more insidious than most of us realize, as their “Team of Revisionists” are Well Known to Each Other and Support each other in any effort of a Southern Patriot to defend their Heritage.
“They {The Revisionists} are most Disturbed when you Make Lincoln out to be the one who Invented and Started the War against the South. Lincoln’s War is where “They” Lose it. Their comeback is always about Slavery, and the War was Started by the South – To Keep Slavery Alive and Promote it. At the Moment of the Time of 1860 and 1861, before the War began, It was the MIND and Determination of Lincoln that “Drove” this Nation to War. I believe that in any discussion with any of the Revisionists – they must be continually reminded that the War would never have happened, without the Evil Determination of Lincoln, to Make it Happen. IMHO
Uh-huh. Anyone who ascribes to academics such highly-organized harmony with a united purpose is truly out of touch with reality.
You had to choose the one that mentions me?
Actually, that was the only reason I hesitated posting this. For a moment.
Oh, Kevin. . . they ALL mention you!
” They call US” ???? oookaaayy, that sums up their entire debate..
I’m one of those carpetbaggers (though since I am a native New Mexican it would be a stretch to call me a Yankee). Shouldn’t be a source of pride that Southern universities are attracting graduate students from around the country, and indeed, the world? I graduated from Alabama where such “Yankees” as Howard Jones and George Rable attract packed classes from southern students.
Onward Yankee Liberals, marching as to war! Meanwhile, if these Southern patriots would carefully study the very same heritage they claim to revere, they would realize that “an All Powerful Government, which takes the rights of Individuals away” is a more accurate description of the 1861-65 Confederacy than the current U.S. government sending forth its minions to warp young Southern minds.
I agree with Brooks that keeping thousands of academics on the same insidious, disciplined course of action would be like herding cats.

If this isn’t true, then you should be able to show us several examples of those in the academic field who have opposing interpretations on subjects surrounding the Civil War (causes, tariffs, slavery, etc — not strategies or battlefield tactics) and that they receive awards and job promotions with the same frequency.
Well, can you do it?
The burden of proof is upon the person who makes the claim, BR. But I’m sure you know that Jeff Hummel, Tom DiLorenzo, Grady McWhiney, and Clyde Wilson hold/held academic positions. So did Ludwell Johnson. I’m surprised you aren’t aware of these cases.
So now it’s up to you to document (with specifics) the claim you support. Can you do it? Show me evidence of systematic discrimination. Evidence, not your opinion. Can you do it? Because, if you can’t, I guess I’ll have to treat you henceforth as a non-serious contributor.
“…Jeff Hummel, Tom DiLorenzo, Grady McWhiney, and Clyde Wilson hold/held academic positions. So did Ludwell Johnson. I’m surprised you aren’t aware of these cases.”

Oh, I’m aware of them. One is dead. One is retired and another near retirement.
Yes, Grady’s no longer with us. Nice fellow. Had me over for drinks at his house. Hummel had me read his manuscript.
That said, we await your proof of systematic discrimination. After all, you wouldn’t want to broadcast a claim and then demonstrate that you were unable to support it, right? I’ll await that response and in the meantime set aside in a holding bin your efforts to play ping-pong with this issue, so that you have no distractions.
