    So, as Dave L says,…..”if it’s 1840 etc. “!!. Confederate money would have been “good”, in NJ in 1840 ? Late night televison has really gone down hill since Johnny Carson and Ed Ames with his tomahawk throw !!

      You overlook the true significance of the Letterman claim. If there was Confederate money in 1840, then Lincoln’s election could not have spurred the creation of the Confederacy. This changes everything.

    Well, I have bought meals at an eating establishment after a reenactment with reproduction Union greenbacks, even after explaining to the manager it was a joke and the bills were reproductions.
