I write this as I’m sitting in Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport awaiting the boarding call for my flight to Washington today. Recently I’ve been spending a good deal of time at airports, including a few trips that were literally back-to-back, as well as my first overnight weather delay (Chicago’s O’Hare, of course, returning from Springfield). I’ve also have had some unusual experiences this year at airports. Several weeks ago, after speaking at Tulsa Community College, I came to the Tulsa airport to participate via cell phone in a master’s thesis defense … and as I walked around the airport, listening and questioning, I almost ran into Jesse Jackson. No, I did not ask him to recite Green Eggs and Ham. But there was some discussion about whether I should have him ask a question of the candidate.
So, folks … here’s a chance to share your airport stories, good, bad, or indifferent, as well as your tips on how to make airplane travel bearable if not pleasant (for example, I usually stop for a bite at the Legal Sea Foods in Washington’s Reagan Airport, but we’ll see how time holds today).
