Risky Business at the Southern Heritage Preservation Group

“The Virginia Flaggers for example risk their lives every single day to advance the cause of our Southern civil rights struggle.”

So says Carl W. Roden at the gift that keeps on giving. He continues:

“Also there are Southern high school and college kids, also white and black ones (and its sad to consider this) high school children who risk being beaten, raped, knifed or shot in their own schools for no better reason than simply wearing a t-shirt.”

Funny … Carl was rather quiet when this story about threatening the lives of schoolchildren broke … so I guess it’s only southern children he cares about.

“Not to mention the fact that every one of us on this page is under the scrutiny of the SPLC, the white supremacist movement, and the Yankee blogosphere on a daily basis….all of whom have more than its share of crazies who could potentially stalk any of us and do who knows what at any given time.”

I thought Carl said that the Yankee bloggers were afraid of him.

What an odd duck.

This is too much. I have a bumper sticker that say’s “Remember Ball’s Bluff” over a Confederate flag on my right rear bumper. I also have another saying Remember Fredericksburg to the left. I live in Massachusetts. So far I have not been hospitalized. I certainly have not been raped. I would have remembered that. Apparently Southern tolerance of pro-confederacy posturing must be much thinner than it is up north. I have a certain conviction that if I petitioned to have a bronze life size of N.B. Forrest erected opposite the statue of Sojourner Truth in Florence, MA., I would receive only a tithe of the attention a similar proposition would encounter in Alabama. Makes one think a bit, what?

Oh goodness. Has anybody else noticed that there’s a routine way of referring to Edgerton in posts at the SHPG? It’s Susan Hathaway… and “Brother” H.K.

I wonder if anyone over there actually understands the history of giving familial nicknames to blacks who “know their place.” I wonder if Edgerton does…

    Then there’s this:

Man Pulls Gun On Elementary School Students Who Mocked His Confederate Flag

An 18-year-old man is facing charges after police say he pointed a gun at two elementary school students on Monday, reports PilotOnline. Joshua P. Dalton of Virginia Beach flies a Confederate flag on the back of his blue pickup and had apparently overheard some disparaging remarks about it from some elementary school kids.

Shortly before 3 pm, a school bus was unloading kids when two students told the driver that someone had pointed a gun at them. The driver then returned the students to Pembroke Elementary before notifying school officials and law enforcement authorities, reports MSN.

A subsequent investigation was launched, and it was determined that a dispute had indeed broken out between Dalton and a couple of students at a bus stop. The students made remarks about the rebel flag on the back of his truck, and he brandished a firearm.
