What’s in a Name?

Apparently, quite a lot.

Y’all remember all those petitions asking the president to allow this or that state to secede (a request that involved a fundamental misconception of how secession was supposed to work, but never mind)? Well, now we have a petition requesting the president to rename United Sates military installations named after Confederate officers. Click here if you want to learn more or if you want to add your name.

It will be interesting to see what happens, if anything. I doubt anything will happen.

What I’ve always wondered is how the most well known of the forts (at least here in NC) was named after such an incompetent Confederate General. If you ask me, they should keep the names Bragg & Hood, but change the others to Buckner, Van Dorn, Polk, etc.

I didn’t know there was a Fort Polk. Keep that one too. Make the Confederacy a laughingstock.

If the DOD was going to give the Army an enema they would stick it in FT Polk.

I signed the one for the Death Star thanks to Jack Black.

Please link to one in favor of keeping them – I’d sign that.
