Really, Virginia Flaggers? REALLY? This is … it?
You must be kidding. What a limp effort.
Of course, we had already identified the site (look for the first overhead image in a post on the subject … where I wanted to show them I was close by posting just south of where the flag went up) and had it confirmed when a Flagger let slip that it was near a VDOT traffic camera (that Flagger attempted to say he was trying to dupe people, but the only person duped appears to have been Connie Chastain, who believed his claim).
This is victory to the Flaggers? Well, I guess after losing to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of the Confederacy, and the city of Lexington, you take what you can get. But this is embarrassing.
A note of caution to drivers on I-95: I wouldn’t go looking for this flag unless you know precisely where it is and can glance over at it for a second. Otherwise, you’ll take your eyes off the road for too long. Don’t risk harm to yourself for the chance to chuckle at this feeble effort to honor Confederate heritage, which serves only to humiliate it.
There’s a huge Confederate battle flag on I-65 just north of Montgomery. It has been there for as long as I can remember. I assumed it would be like that one.
But these are the Flaggers … and they’ve always stumbled.
In my wildest dreams I could not have hoped for this.
So….they’re flying the flag behind a line of trees? Not the most strategic of placements if the idea is to get a lot of eyeballs on the flag.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Wow! This is the perfect end to the Flagger saga. Like a wet fart in a hurricane.
Thanks, this made my afternoon!
BWAHAHAHA! A wet fart in a hurricane? BWAHAHAHA!
I’m actually embarrassed for them. A gully behind trees by I-95… all of the hate, harassment and ugliness from them – for a pole in a gully behind trees…
As the trees grow, and grow they will, the flag will be ever more obscure.
What a joke. The floggers fail every time. Let’s just ignore them and move on with worthwhile historical discussions and leave the floggers behind as a small footnote of ignorance.
I find the whole matter to be a piece of comic relief. The Virginia Flaggers have offered us their best effort … and now we don’t have to take them seriously.
Lost cause…….lost flag. Seems very appropriate !
Maybe it’s camouflaged?
Karma’s as b*tch and so is stupidity
Virginia is pretty hardcore when it comes to the height of anything near roads. Most of Virginia’s interstate highways are billboard free thankfully. You have to get into NC to see your first Pedro sign.
Connie was in on the ploy, I did Not Let it slip, it was bait that you took !
It was in two phases, 1 at her blog and 1 at F/B, have a nice day !
David … we all understand you screwed up. You couldn’t keep the information to yourself. And the flag is just south of a VDOT camera, just as you said. In fact, if the Flaggers had managed to put up a flag that someone could see, it would be in frame. But thanks for making Connie look foolish, too.
All that work to try to conceal the location of a flag that no one can see, anyway. The Flaggers must feel really proud that they did the best they could.
Have a nice day.
Thankfully there is video of Dav’s reaction to Brooks’s post.
I believe that’s Connie Chastain screeching in the background.
The Lost Cause edges toward becoming a cause lost. I love poetic justice.
I note that, despite some of the prior commentary, the pole is SOUTH of the overpass, not north of it, so cars traveling northbound on I-95 will actually have a chance to see the flag as they are driving towards Richmond…assuming that all the trees in front AND for at least a hundred yards south of the flag are cut down. Yikes.
That’s correct. Driving south one would encounter the overpass before the flagpole site. You can see the trailer park in the background in several of the pictures.
Waiting for the car insurance claims to pile up, concretely backed up by the VDOT camera. Aided and abetted by the Flaggers.
