A Note of Sympathy and Encouragement

It’s come to my attention that several folks are disappointed that they didn’t make the 2013 Confederate Heritage Follies list. In some cases it’s because they simply aren’t important; in a few cases the person was simply too easy a target. Moreover, there were some simply spectacular instances of foolish follies this year, with several being provided by one group. They’re always seeking publicity, and they’ve gotten it … even when they no longer flag the VMFA.

Some of you aren’t trying hard enough. I know you have the potential to make real fools of yourself in spectacular fashion. Others confuse being pitiful and pathetic with being candidates for follies fame. You have to have the right stuff … look at Tripp Lewis for inspiration.

Try harder. There’s always next year.🙂

Judging by Connie’s last two posts she’s running out of ideas. Looks like our accolades and associated comments knocked the wind out of her southern sails and rendered her speechless. For that WE deserve an award. Here’s to a great 2013 and an ever ‘Marxier’ 2014! Ha! And btw I saved a ton of money this holiday season by giving folks Connie’s entire book catalog as presents. Five imaginary books for only $0. Can’t beat that deal. Merry Christmas!

I must thank you for your recent posts. I’m sure there are some who take the Flaggers seriously. I don’t happen to be one of those but I do enjoy the humor that you and Al provide. Priceless. And I will try harder next year. LOL

I could not have done it without the Flaggers themselves. Sometimes I think they are a guerrilla comedy group out to make fun of Confederate heritage utilizing a flash mob approach to public theater.

A long while back I predicted that, given their PETA-like propensity to stage conflicts and draw media attention to themselves in ways that really don’t help their purported goals, they would soon be chaining themselves nekkid to the porch at the chapel at VMFA. It hasn’t happened so far, but I still think it might when the weather gets warm again. Please let me know when it does, but just tell me about — I really don’t need to see the pictures.

          Stop giving Tripp Lewis ideas.

          “Tripp Strips for the Cause.”

No one wants to see Tripp Lewis’ or Grayson Jennings’ “Little Bobby Lee.”

Well, just look for the little flag pole, if you can find it. Cutting away the brush doesn’t seem to have helped.

Looking forward to next year’s top follies – plenty of candidates eagerly awaiting to be chosen. Maybe we will see the novelette published about the young butcher knife wielding northerner too.

Maybe A&E will give the Flaggers their own show. I hear there’s recently been an opening in their lineup. “This week on Flagger Wars, Tripp and Carl flag Comicon.” Personally I’m hoping Comnies book gets added to Oprahs 2014 imaginary book club.
