Quote of the Week: July 20-26, 2014

Since I’ve already highlighted the prose of Brandon Dorsey, I’ll go with this:

Our heritage is in the hands of our enemies, who are determined to erase it — enemies who hate us.

It’s enough to bring on projectile vomiting.

Fire away. It’s not as if you’ll hit anything but your keyboard.

I think these folks suffer from false generational memory syndrome. It’s a new disorder that I just made up a name for. Erasing these false memories is the job of Yankee therapists. Therapy begins by having the afflicted read The Apostles of Disunion, followed by seeing the movie Glory, and then reading Albion Tourgée’s novel, a Fool’s Errand. Each of these assignments is followed by a group therapy session in which the cognitive dissonance between the truth and Lost Cause mythology is explored in a loving and supportive environment. During these therapeutic encounters participants are encouraged to vent their anger at their ancestors for having bequeathed them with a false historical narrative.

All you’re hitting is your keyboard—-I love that comment and plan on using it.

There is no cure for the abiding ignorance of people determined to be victims.
