I loved that show as a kid…the show would not actually be “Flagger” friendly today as I don’t think it was “southern” enough and the people were mighty stereotypical.

He’s probably also wondering why they didn’t include the charater with a naughty word for a name.

Couldn’t really get a good view of the roof of the old General Lee. The Viper General Lee obviously hasn’t been detailed yet, though. 🙂

The “making of” offers a good view … and it wasn’t hard to find it on the car in the show.

I didn’t really see any good views in the “Making of” video. At the 1:11 point, when John Schneider has his head outside the window, there’s a shot where you can tell there is something on the roof but you don’t know what.

They use several cars, some from the original show and others that they were going to destroy by jumping them. Some of the original screen used cars would likely still have it, it was either carefully avoided or covered up. It looked to me like some of the cars had a white roof.

I went through it again pausing every few frames. The car that the actors are in is most likely one of the original screen used and they wouldn’t alter it. You can just see the corners of the flag in some head on scenes. The stunt car either has a white roof, or the sun is conveniently making it white, or all the glare was added in in post. When the car comes through the barn there is a cloud of dust that covers the roof – possibly added in post. The screen used car that the actors are sitting in in the dealership very clearly has flecks of glass placed over the flag and also over the words “General Lee.”

I’m sure there’s a post or two going on out there on some of the various heritage sites saying not to use Auto Trader because they erased the CBF from the car.

Maybe the flaggers will jump on the hood of the car demanding it be replaced or they won’t get off. Then we can see just how far a Dodge can jump.

A thought occurred to me: I wonder if anyone knows what ratings the show had among African-Americans while it was on the air.
