Watch this tape …
Recall Pat Hines? This guy? The guy who advocated the murder of schoolchildren is now whining about cultural genocide?
Never tell me that Confederate heritage advocates never have anything to do with such people … and the same goes for the League of the South.
Let’s call people by their right names. Let’s ask Michael Hill why he trusts this person to do his bidding.
Let’s not confuse first steps with final steps. There’s still work to do.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I submit that what we see happening in the United States today is an apt illustration of why the Confederate flag was raised in the first place. What we see materializing before our very eyes is tyranny: tyranny over the freedom of expression, tyranny over the freedom of association, tyranny over the freedom of speech, and tyranny over the freedom of conscience.” – Megyn Kelly

There’s a reliable source for you.
Tell me, did Ms. Kelly have anything to say about Mr. Hines’s idea of murdering schoolchildren to make a point? He sounds a little like Dylann Roof, no?
Mr. Simpson:
For sure you don’t think Megyn Kelly is a racist?
Guess you’re a bit too eager to shy away from what Mr. Hines said, eh?
As for Ms. Kelly, I just don’t think she’s competent. Leave it to you to try to play the racism card (you seem reductionist in that regard) while ignoring an advocate of mass murder. That’s revealing.
Roof will fry for what he did, I support Capital Punishment, do you?
You’re ducking Mr. Hines’s statement about murdering schoolchildren to make a point. So noted.
History’s not quite as easy as you think it is.
Thanks for sharing your views on capital punishment. I understand you sometimes want to make this a comments section about your own views. I suggest you set up your own blog for that. As for my views, they are my views. If I want to talk all the time about politics, I’ll set up a blog for that.
Oh noooooze it’s tyyyyyyyyyrany!!!! The peroxide from faux news has spoken!!!
I think Billy could do her job with equal competence.
All he needs is a bottle of hair bleach and a boob job then shill about minorities, women and issues only morons get worked up about, like pieces of cloth with a dyed print in them….and he’s in….
I almost never watch TV, but the article I just posted sums up the reason for the Civil War.
Mr. Simpson, even as smart as you are with history, even you must admit Megyn Kelly is right.
Also, look at her educational background, she is probably smarter than anyone on this blog, including me.
http://megynkelly.org/179680/the-confederate-flag-needs-to-be-raised-not-lowered/
You believe Ms. Kelly is right. Meanwhile, you have nothing to say about Mr. Hines’s idea about murdering schoolchildren.
I’m perfectly willing to place Ms. Kelly’s educational background against mine. Yet now you know she didn’t write this article. Investigate the website you shared, and you’ll find out important information about it. Remember, you claim history’s easy. So here’s a way for you to show us how easy it is. I’ve given you enough hints already.
Pray continue.
(Note: Ms. Kelly has a BA from Syracuse University in political science and a JD from Albany Law School. I know several people who comment here who have more impressive credentials than that. We’ll leave it to Billy to discover mine.)
She is intelligent because everything in that post is right, even if you think it is plagiarism.
I think one thing good that can come from this whole Confederate Flag debate is that the truth is coming out, now it is up to each individual person to accept the truth or to repeat the same old lies.
I know you are very smart, but mainly you are a great writer.
Billy, Billy, Billy … she didn’t write the piece. You’re looking silly. I’ve linked to the original. The location you cite isn’t her actual site.
One of us is looking foolish here. To find out which one, please look in the mirror and you’ll see that person staring back at you.
This history stuff isn’t quite as easy as you thought it was, is it?
There is a difference between intelligence and ethics. Shilling for FOX News doesn’t require intelligence or ethics. It does however provide for a nice income. Whether Mrs. Kelley actually believes what she reports is open for some discussion. I think quite a few of the right wing media types don’t believe what they say, but they say it because it provides for a nice income.
I think we must cease crediting this screed to Ms. Kelly. The story’s already moved forward.
The article was plagiarized, you were just told that. What college did you attend, may I ask?
Let’s be fair to Ms. Kelly. Here’s what the “about” page of the website in question says:
http://megynkelly.org/about-us/
It is fair to assume that Ms. Kelly may not know that she is being wrongly credited with an essay stolen from another site and published under her name.
That someone continues to credit Ms. Kelly as the author despite this evidence is another matter altogether. What bothers me about Billy is that he’s a real person with a real graduate education who shows no sign that such education affected how he approaches these discussions. Then again, the institution in question is located in West Florida, and we know of someone who lives in that part of the country who has serious issues with the truth.
Billy has a grad degree? How does this happen?
You’ll have to ask him.
I did…he never answered..
Of course, nearly every paragraph in that screed has no resemblance at all to the truth, but then only someone who actually knows something about history would realize that. As we all know, neoconfederates have no clue about actual history.
That essay was actually written by Chuck Baldwin; Megyn Kelly re-blogged it under her own name, without attribution. She plagiarized it.
Gary Adams approves. But I have reason to believe it’s not really Ms. Kelly’s website.
http://chuckbaldwinlive.com/Articles/tabid/109/ID/3336/The-Confederate-Flag-Needs-To-Be-Raised-Not-Lowered.aspx for Baldwin’s article.
I’m calling bullshit on you.
My comment is for Billy.
It is only fair that I ask for your reasoning.
He is trolling.
Really? Usually trolls don’t identify themselves.
Brooks- he’s not the brightest of trolls…
I think he is a fine representative of the defenders of Confederate heritage.
It’s idol worship
Oh ol’Pat and Mike Hill go way back, they are peas in a pod…Pat either was or still is a military surgical nurse and he might be good at what he does but I would be concerned about anyone under his care who doesn’t fit into his racial world….
I have really had it with these heritage types. I am sick of them defining who is and is not southern and I am sick of their bigotry.
How long has the LoS been talking about leaving the United States? Why havenāt they gotten secession on any state ballot? It is because they are a joke and they know southerners will soundly reject them.
Michael Hill is a bigot conman who is lining his pockets with donations to āthe causeā.
Good grief! Get a freaking life!
Iām going to go calm down now.

For being the “master race”, they’re quite incompetent at everything they do.
Brooks, a good friend of mine, and a Grant scholar, just wrote a guest column that is in today’s issue of the Washington Examiner. It is on the subject of the current CBF debate. He’s given me permission to post it on your blog, if you’re willing. I’d like to do that, because I think it would add to the discussion. Should I do this? If so, in which of the many blogs on the subject would it be most appropriate? I can post the whole article, or simply a link to it. Thanks.
Sure.
Here goes. I’ll start by posting the link. If anyone has a problem accessing it, I can post the text.

Frank Scaturro’s a good guy who was the foremost figure behind saving Grant’s Tomb. He was active in that endeavor when it wasn’t popular and he was a gentleman when those who opposed him initially sought to take credit for his work.
I agree totally on your assessment of Frank. I would only add that he is honest to a fault. Also, for the record, I believe those Confederate-honoring folks of whom Frank spoke positively include members of the Longstreet Society. I’ve maintained dual membership in the GMA and the Longstreet Society for several years now. I’ll have to say that the Longstreet folks do Confederate Heritage right. I guess this in part stems from the fact the Old Pete was himself a victim of Lost Cause mythology and members of this society named in his honor are, therefore, not too prone to believe the neo-Confederate orthodoxy.
Good article. Unfortunately, I doubt it’ll do much to change the minds of Neo-Confederates. Their minds are pretty much already made up and no amount of facts will change that.
The fact that he identifies himself is irrelevant.
I guess we will have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.
No biggie. I note that he’s unresponsive when cornered.
