Harriet Tubman, Black Confederate (?!)

It’s not history. Sometimes it’s heritage. Sometimes it’s hate. And sometimes …

Well, look at what Andy Hall found over at Dead Confederates

Wow. Can’t wait for H. K. Edgerton and Karen Cooper to point this out.

Having read his take on Harriet Tubman, I have to ask the eternal question: stupid or evil?

I saw this previously, and I believe commented on it, on Andy’s blog. Amazing bit of historical research. I have one ancestor who was in the 2nd Virginia Cavalry. Could I claim a Confederate ancestor? Well, only if I didn’t do enough research to discover that he enlisted in 1861 in Tyler county in a Virginia Loyalist regiment! 😉

This was almost as good as the time ol’ Plagiarisin’ Gary posted a long, overwrought paean to the traditional virtues of antebellum southern womanhood, and illustrated it with a picture of Massachusetts Quaker, abolitionist and proto-feminist Lucretia Mott.

Don’t tell him about the 1st South Carolina Volunteers…

Sometimes it’s also barely literate. “I’ll be write they’re”.

It is quite apparent by the context of the sentence, that this fellow thought that Harriet Tubman was employed as a scout for a fictitious Confederate regiment. Not only does he need history lessons but he could use a few in grammar also.

“On the positive side, though, I’m sure we can count on Mr. Jolley’s support for putting Tubman on the new $10 bill, right? Right?” Good call, Andy!

Someone’s got too much time on his hands and ought to spend it taking a Creative Writing class! Why do some people get their kicks trying to needle other people? That guy has a crabby heart.

    Good catch Andy!

I hear she also spent some time with the Cook’s Regiment, whipping up some mean dishes. 🙂

I thought it was flipping pancakes! Wasn’t she related to Aunt Jemima? 😉

When talking Confedrate heritage these days one never knows the limits.

Well… dont joke about Ms. Harriet. She kicked ass. She’d a’been a movie by now if white. She’d have been a tv show in the ’50s.
