A Virginia Flagger Urges Assassination

Willie Earl Wells is a rather visible member of the Virginia Flaggers. He’s a favorite subject of the group’s photographer, Judy Smith.

Like many other people who like to run around in Confederate uniforms, Mr. Wells likes to pretend he belongs to the artillery branch. There are far more Confederate artillerists today than there were during the war, I guess.

So guess what Mr. Wells suggests ought to be done when it comes to the Confederate monument controversy in Louisville, Kentucky?

We can’t wait for the Virginia Flaggers to disavow this threat of violence.

Does Mr. Wells have any military service experience or is he just another wannabe?

Well…Back in 1865 his kind did assassinate a President of the United States…You have to wonder if Mr. Wells believes JWB was a hero and there should be some kind of monument erected for him. And of course we remember what his people did in the Memphis Massacre too. Some “heritage” you have there Mr. Wells….

I think the League of the South has some sort of day dedicated to Booth, celebrating his achievement. Really disgusting!!!

These guys really need a more constructive hobby. When my uncle was in traction, he took up knitting. Just a suggestion.

I am amazed and embarrassed at the amount/degree of outright hatred in this country. Black v. white. Pro-Trump v. anti-Trump. You should read some of the posts/comments I delete on “The American Civil War.” Having grown up during the Civil Rights movement in the 60s, I thought that things would be much better by now. But they are in fact worse. Back then, killing somebody was outrageous. Now mass shootings are commonplace and the media seems to enjoy stirring up the pot. Where will it end?

The violent crime rate is much lower than it was in the 1960s.

Actually it’s not. According to FBI Uniform Crime Reports, violent crimes adjusted for increases in population have declined from all-time highs in the 70s, 80s and 90s but in most cases except murder are higher than in the 60s. But I wasn’t addressing crime statistics. I was commenting on a culture marked by fear, anger, hatred and mistrust. Carrying concealed weapons has become commonplace. Road rage incidents turn into murder. Instead of coming together as a people, we’re more fragmented than ever.

The “media” generally are an embarrassment. All they care about are ratings/”hits”. It used to be that you could surf over to the Weather Channel and actually get the weather. Now you stumble onto a group of freaks ripping up the Rockies in a quest for gemstones, posers towing trucks out of ditches in British Columbia, and – at least it’s “weather” – recreations of the 10 Scariest Floods of all time. Then there’s CNN – which occasionally still diverts itself to actual news.

He’s a scumbag, no doubt about that.

Well, if in the mind of a Flagger, the Confederates were in the right in 1861, why not now too?
