Boy, you’re up on your Iced Earth. This just came out yesterday.
Interesting use of archival photos in the video. A new twist on the Ken Burns style.
Iced Earth has really improved.
And they aren’t the first metal band to take on the Civil War. There’s a metal band called Civil War, which focuses on wars in general. They have a fantastic song about the USS Monitor, from the perspective of its designer, John Ericsson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaioXRzuroo
I didn’t know these guys were still at it. 15 years ago or so they did an album which included Gettysburg segments, IIRC. If the Irish Brigade had this one in the head phones they might have taken the wall at Marye’s.
Being of Irish descent, I am biased on this topic. I think that the lyrics are great but I would prefer an arrangement by a more traditional group like the Wolfe Tones or perhaps Derek Warfield. Maybe it’s a generational thing.
What’s the story with the very “feral” imagery?
I have researched the Irish Brigade for 33 years. I just found this tonight. Amazing, very well done. I want to contact the band by email, and send them a file or two. I will try to locate an email address, if anyone knows how to contact them, or wants a copy of the file, please email me at rm69nyib@cox.net. “..it rushed into the fight with its well-known gallantry..”
That email address is now rm69nyib@gmail.com
