Another View on Robert E. Lee

I thought some of you would appreciate this perspective, which embraces Robert E. Lee’s racial attitudes.  Whether you agree with it is another question.

I also direct your attention to this comment from Mr. Wallace:

Check out Facebook groups like the “Southern Heritage Preservation Group” or “180 Degrees Truth South.” They are full of multiculturalist idiots searching for “Black Confederates” who spend most of their time denouncing “racism” and “white supremacy.”

UPDATE: Mr. Wallace elaborates on his view of these groups.

Maybe it’s all just an occident. Here’s to the First Amendment. Someone (Holmes?) once said that the First guarantees debate, not necessarily intelligent debate.

When it comes to Lee, race, and slavery, a number of people shape their presentation of his views to satisfy something they hold dear. As a result, the real Lee disappears.

I guess the good news is that this genius hasn’t appropriated Lincoln’s colonization comments – yet.

    Lee was a military genius.

I don’t believe he rose to that level in social, political and government issues…
